Generator Stator End Winding Vibration Monitoring System

Generators around the World help Generate Power. This Power runs Industries, Homes and countless Systems. Ensuring 24x7, 365 days of clean and sustainable power is therefore a top priority. Generators thus need close and continuous monitoring of their Vibration Levels. Any increase in vibration could be a sign of trouble. We, at IRD Mechanalysis Limited, manufacture Vibration Monitoring Systems for monitoring the Stator End Winding Vibration of Generators.

How is it done?

The stator end winding vibration is monitored for both Turbine End of Generator as well as for Exciter End of the Generator. The vibration sensor (charge output type) is placed within the end windings of the Generator in each phase (R, Y and B). The Output of the Charge Output Type Vibration Sensors is brought to a Junction Box via a Lead-In plate on the Generator. The Junction Box is equipped with Charge Amplifiers that either amplify the charge and/or process signal and thus enable long distance transmission of the signal. The signals come to our Vibration Monitoring System Panel located in the Control Room via Bulk Cables from the field. Our Monitoring System IRD8800 and its modules M88280 measure the vibration, display it, transmit it via 4-20 mA and MODBUS and provide protection via Alarm and Trip Relays
